Fulham earned a hard-fought Premier League point in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Craven Cottage on Saturday. An own goal from United defender Lisandro Martínez was cancelled out by a late Matheus Cunha strike, leaving the hosts still searching for their first league win of the season.
The result moves Fulham off the bottom of the table to 20th place, now on one point from their opening five matches. They remain 11 points behind leaders Manchester City but showed improved resilience after a difficult start to the campaign.
Marco Silva's side took the lead in the 63rd minute when Martínez turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Fulham's forwards. The hosts defended resolutely for much of the second half, with Bernd Leno making five saves, but were undone in the 89th minute. Substitute Patrick Dorgu provided the cross for Cunha to fire home from close range and snatch a point for the visitors.
Fulham had created chances of their own, registering six shots on target from their 12 attempts. Timothy Castagne and Josh King were both shown yellow cards in a physical contest, with Rodrigo Muniz also booked late on for time-wasting. Silva made five substitutions in the second half, introducing Kevin Santos, Cesar Palacios, Hugo Larsson, Muniz and Joachim Andersen in search of fresh impetus.
The team's recent form shows one win, two draws and two losses from their last five outings across all competitions. They face a trip to face 11th-placed Ipswich Town in their next Premier League fixture on 10 October.
