Fulham's Carabao Cup run is over after a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage on Wednesday. Eddie Nketiah scored the only goal of the League Cup Round of 16 tie in the 37th minute, converting from Oscar Mingueza's cross during the visitors' first meaningful attack.

Fulham dominated the match, holding 74 percent of possession and forcing Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson into four saves. The hosts had a series of clear opportunities, with Kenny Tete and Alex Iwobi both denied by Henderson, while Gonzalo Garcia saw a late header saved in stoppage time. Despite 14 shots and nine corners, Fulham could not find an equaliser.

Manager Álvaro Arbeloa expressed his frustration after the match. "We need to learn from our mistakes," he said.

The result leaves Fulham, who sit 15th in the Premier League with eight points from eight games, to focus on their league campaign. Their record of two wins, two draws and four losses has them thirteen points behind the leaders, Manchester City, and they have scored eight goals while conceding ten so far this season. Their next fixture is a trip to face ninth-placed Aston Villa on Saturday 31 October.

Fulham's recent form in the league reads two wins, one draw and two losses from their last five outings. This sequence includes the 1-0 win at Coventry City last Saturday, where Oscar Bobb scored the winner, but also the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich and a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. They will be looking to bounce back quickly from this cup disappointment when they visit Villa Park.
